Head of the Palestinian National Administration Mahmoud Abbas during his two-day working visit to Russia on January 26-27, 2010, chose PRESIDENT HOTEL as the main residence where his delegation had all it needed to work comfortably.
Within the framework of the visit’s program Mahmoud Abbas, on January 26, 2010, in Sochi met Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to discuss the situation in the Middle East and resumption of Israeli-Palestinian talks. Both leaders agreed that the resumption of talks is a difficult task and Russia together with the UN, the US, and European Union, comprises part of the Middle East Quartet of intermediaries for peace efforts and should actively participate in the process. President Dmitry Medvedev and his Palestinian counterpart discussed also bilateral cooperation, implementation of trade and economic projects, development of educational and cultural ties.
Mahmoud Abbas , in Moscow, met also with a number of Russian high-ranking officials for talks focused on furthering cooperation in areas of common interest. No specific decisions were taken but talks paved the way for closer cooperation of the sides.
